Friday forest school activities

We have been making some lovely hanging sculptures. We have been working together brilliantly. Miss BB loves them - what do you think?

Tag Rugby!

Mrs Hempsall has been really proud of our tag rugby skills this week! We were so good at the skills that we had a game at the end! We loved it!

Death masks

This week we have been writing instructions for enbalmers to prepare a Pharaoh's body properly. Every decent pharaoh needs a high quality death mask, so we are now preparing these.

Friday forest school activities

On Friday afternoon we sat and felt the sun on our faces and listened to the birdsong. We did this at the start and end of our session, though at the end we appreciated one of natures gifts and all chewed a delicious mulberry or two whilst reflecting on being outdoors.

We then went to look at our adopted trees to see what they look like at this time of year. We looked carefully at their bark and leaves, noticing textures and colours. There were catkins on the hazels and some berries still on the hawthorns.

After we had looked at our trees, we went to look at the wild flowers around the pond to see what the differences were between now and the summer. Some of us were astounded by the differences. The only colour we could see came from a few red campion that were left and some nettle. The plants look very different at this time of year.

Entering an Egyptian tomb ...

Last week in Mulberry we imagined we were archaeologists and Egyptologists at Cambridge University. We had a big dilemma. Do we drop everything to visit a new tomb that had been unearthed, or ignore this news? Lots of thoughts were shared about why to go, or why not to.

Egypt news

The decision was made with the majority saying that they didn't want to miss out on an exciting new discovery. Before they knew it, they were in Egypt, with their security passes, ready to enter the pyramid tomb. The tunnel that had been dug felt long, hot, dusty and dark, but entering the tomb was incredible!

It was dark in the tunnel!

Inside the tomb

As we were not allowed to take cameras into the tomb, in case the flashes destroyed he paintings, we had to make sketches of what we saw. We saw things never seen before and learned about aspects of Egyptian life, previously unknown. We have compiled reports for the university about our findings and sent them off. We would like to stay in Egypt a little longer to see what else is uncovered ...

Aren't we great at using our imaginations?!
